"Four years ago I didn’t own a single record. I got rid of them when I moved around for school, work, life etc. But always loved vinyl, loved music, loved gigs, festivals. And it was always the thing my son and I always did for father-son time. From when he was born. We always relaxed by listening with each other.
After a particularly bad few months at work and being a stressed middle aged cliché, my son was genuinely worried about me. He did a beautiful thing. He went and bought me a Crosley and a few albums for Father’s Day.
Radiohead were the band that really triggered my love of vinyl again. That Father’s Day he really connected with what I needed and it changed my life: Radiohead, A Moon Shaped Pool.
That Father’s Day gift set me on a journey that now leads me to where we are today; halfway through our inaugural year as Black Star Records. Doing all we can to share the love in these crazy times.

"With my dad being a fan of the classics, you can never go wrong with a good 70s rock compilation or anything Elvis!
When I was growing up it was only ever Elvis or Madness playing from our speakers whenever we were in the car or at parties with my parents! In 2011 Madness came to our island festival 'Jersey Live' as the headline act which I was lucky enough to see with my dad next to me. In 2016 we also made the trip to Memphis to visit the home of Elvis Presley, Graceland, which was always a dream of ours. This music will stay with me forever and I'll never get tired of listening to it for it has such good memories."
